I'm a narcotics investigator based in the Pacific Northwest and member of a HIDTA Task Force. I am also a Task Force Officer (TFO) with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I recognized an increased amount of fentanyl overdose deaths originating through deals established in Snapchat. I learned how to analyze the social media data to conduct criminal investigations, and successfully turned my cases into state and federal prosecutions.
As drug dealing and social media have become more intertwined, I learned how to navigate drug deals taking place in Telegram, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Venmo, Cash App, WhatsApp and crypto currencies.
